All major rivers continue to flow normal

ISLAMABAD - The Federal Flood Commission (FFC) on Saturday said that all main rivers Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej continued to flow normal.
The reservoir elevations indicates that Tarbela and Mangla Dams are at elevations of 1495.00 feet and 1165.50 feet respectively, which are 55.00 feet and 76.50 feet below their respective maximum conservation levels of 1550.00 feet and 1242.00 feet.
The combined live storage position of Tarbela, Chashma and Mangla reservoirs is 6.402 MAF as compared to last year’s 9.164 MAF. According to Flood Forecasting Division (FFD), Lahore, Friday’s monsoon low still persists over northwestern Madhya Pradesh (India).
Marked seasonal low lies over northwestern Balochistan. A shallow westerly wave lies over northern Afghanistan. Moist current from Arabian Sea is penetrating into upper parts of the country up to 4000 feet. A fresh monsoon low has developed over northwestern Bay of Bengal.
The Flood Forecasting Division (FFD) predicted scattered thundershowers with isolated heavy falls over northern and northeastern Punjab (Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala and Lahore Divisions), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir including upper catchments of Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej rivers during the next 24 hours. Isolated thundershowers may also occur over southern Punjab (Bahawalpur Division), southeastern Sindh and Gilgit-Baltistan during the same period. Significant rainfall events as reported by FFD Lahore during the past 24 hours include: Sahiwal 34mm, Joharabad 33mm, Kakul 28mm, Parachinar 27mm, Noorpur Thal 24mm, Bhkakar 22mm, Sharqpur 19 mm, Kotnaina 18mm, Sargodha (City 16mm & Airport 10mm), Shorkot DI Khan 16mm each Balakot & Faisalabad 12mm each Tinda Dam 11mm, Dara-e- Tang, Tarbela & Kohat 10mm each Kokara 9mm, Attock & Mandi Bahauddin 8mm each, Jassar 7mm Ravi Syphone, Alexandra Bridge & Shinkiari 6mm each, Warsak, Mardan (Rashidabad) & Risalpur 5mm each.
However, all concerned are informed by the Flood Warning Centre, Lahore, on round-the-clock basis.
