Corruption mars state institutions

PESHAWAR – Former president Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Qazi Anwar, advocate, has said that Constitution is supreme and all the institutions in the state are equal, adding that in parliamentary form of government the president does not take note of an issue, as it is the domain of parliament.
Though law making is the business of the parliament, yet the superior judiciary has its constitutional power to explain and elaborate it whether it is not contrary to any clause of the constitution, Qazi Anwar, former president SCBA, said while addressing a news conference on Saturday here at press club.
He also said that the superior judiciary has the power to repeal a law, made by the parliament, if it is contrary to the constitution.
Flanked by PTI provincial incharge Mehrtaj Roghani, Saad Abdullah and Zafar Khattak, Mr Anwar said that almost all the profitable institutions of the state were brought on the verge of destruction due to the rampant corruption of the incumbent rulers.
The country’s economy was in immense stress, but even then the rulers have no time from their luxuries, he alleged. The economy of the country, he said on the decline after each passing day due to the incompetence of the rulers.
The SCBA former president maintained that almost all the political parties have left their due work and busy in leveling allegations against each other.
About the Shaukat Khanum Hospital, he said that it was the only cancer hospital in the country, where poor people were feely treated, but leveling baseless allegations on its founder and PTI chairman Imran Khan is quite irresponsible and baseless.
In the SKMH, he added more than 75 percent poor people were treated free of cost, whereas 25 percent patients are those who could bear its financial burden.
Anwar further said that presently poverty is the main problem of the country, as about 50 percent people were living below the poverty line, whereas more than 60 percent people don’t have facility of safe drinking water, he remarked.
It is prime responsibility of a government to provide basic facilities to its people, he said.
The PTI leader maintained that due to excessive and unabated load shedding economy of the country.
