Five die in separate road mishaps

LAHORE – At least five people, including the driver and helper of a loaded truck, died during separate road mishaps in the provincial capital on Saturday.
According to the details, 30-year-old driver Wasim Roshan along with his helper Nausheer Ali was heading towards Badami Bagh when his truck went out of control. Subsequently, the driver and his helper sustained critical injuries and instantly died.
“Circumstantial evidence shows that the driver was dozing and this was the cause of the accident,” said an on-duty police officer, adding the incident took place near Batti Chowk on early Saturday. He further said the bodies had been removed to the City morgue for autopsy. Policemen are awaiting the autopsy report to ascertain the main cause of their deaths.
Similarly, Badami Bagh police said a three-year-old girl Khudaija, daughter of Abu Sardar, was playing in the street when an unidentified car hit her and fled the scene, leaving the kid in a pool of blood. Khudaija was shifted to a nearby hospital where the doctors pronounced her dead.
Meanwhile, 55-year-old Abdul Hafeez of Saddar Bazaar, North Cantonment, who had sustained multiple injuries during a road crash, was also pronounced dead on Saturday. Also, an 18-year-old youth named Mamoon was crossing the main road in the Kahna area when a speeding car from opposite direction crushed him to death. The bodies were removed to the City morgue for post mortem. Further investigations are underway.
