List of 10 wanted extortionists issued


KARACHI - Special Investigation Unit (SIU) claimed to have arrested five men allegedly involved in over 50 cases of extortion and half dozen cases of target killings on Saturday.
Moreover, the Special Investigation Unit has also released the images of at least 10 most-wanted extortionists of the city, belong to different groups.
A press conference held at the Special Investigation Unit office where Special Investigation Unit chief SP Khurram Waris informed the media about the arrests of the culprits.
The suspects were identified as Abdul Rehman, Yousuf Lahoti, Shahzad Khaskheli, Tahir Mehmood and Muhammad Shahid. Officials also claimed to have recovered a hand grenade, four Kalashnikovs and three pistols from their possession.
SP Waris said that apart from over 50 cases of extortion, especially in old city areas including Kharadar and Mithadar, these culprits were also involved in over half dozen target killings.
He said that about two months ago, they killed a personnel of Rangers, Madad Ali and wounded another officer Muhammad Siddique in Aram Bagh area.
Their arrests were made during an encounter at Maripur Road when the Special Investigation Unit police conducted raid on a tip-off about their presence. He said that that the suspects belong to different gangster groups including notorious Baba Ladla and Sheraz Comrade Group.
SP Waris also issued the images of 10 most-wanted extortionists.
 Their names were disclosed as Ahmed Ali Magsi, the chief of the Magsi group, Syed Kamran Jilani aka Kala, Malik Asif and Danish of Sultan Khan group, Raju aka Bholo of Bholo Qureshi group, Abdul Rahman alias Ashok, Farhan Qureshi, Fakhar, Sheraz aka Comrade and Sohail.
The officer said that they had also killed and injured several people by shooting and throwing hand grenades over refusal of paying extortion money. SP Waris said that these most wanted gangsters have belonged to Lyari and different gangsters groups in the city.
He further said that the name of Ahmed Ali Magsi was also included in the list of most-wanted extortionists.
