PML-N most popular party: Survey

LAHORE (PR) – The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is the most popular party of the country, according to the latest Gallup survey released on Saturday.
According to the survey, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is on number two, while the popularity of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has reduced by 10 per cent during the past four-and-a half years.
The popularity of the PML-N has substantially increased and its vote bank has grown from 20 per cent to 33 per cent, more than that of any other political party.
As per the survey, the electoral prospects of the ruling PPP and its coalition partners are poor against the PML-N, which has emerged as the largest political party of the country. The vote bank of the PPP was 31 per cent in 2008, but it has now reduced to just 21 per cent.
Similarly, PPP allies – the MQM, the ANP, the JUI-F and the PML-Q – got 35 per cent votes in 2008 but now this number has reduced to just 14 per cent.
According to the survey report, in Punjab, the PML-N has the support of 44 per cent voters, followed by the PTI’s 21 per cent voters. The PPP has the support of 12 per cent voters, while its allies of 6 per cent voters.
Like Punjab, the PML-N is gaining remarkable popularity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The party has the support of 42 per cent voters, followed by the PTI’s 25 per cent voters. The PPP and its allies (mainly the ruling ANP) enjoy the support of just 23 per cent voters in the province.
According to the survey, though the support for the PPP has slightly decreased in Sindh and Balochistan, the party still has the maximum vote bank in these provinces.
