KARACHI - Under the directives of Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, the price control cell has been functioning effectively at the CM House here.
An official of the CM House said on Wednesday that it is aimed at to check and monitor the price of the daily use articles and commodities during the Holy month of Ramazan.
According to the head of the Cell, the Additional Secretary (Coordination), during first ten days i.e from July 21 to August 1, 7,600 persons were fined throughout Sindh province and 168 persons were sent to Jails, while an amount of Rs.5,399,643 was recovered from them as fine.
As many as 1,082 persons have been fined in Karachi West, 324 in Karachi South, 277 in Karachi Malir, 1020 in Karachi East, 756 in Karachi Central, 350 in Hyderabad, 312 in Badin, 168 in Dadu, 34 in Jamshoro, 83 in Matiari, 272 in Tando Muhammad Khan, 201 in Thatta, 152 in Mirpurkhas, 223 in Sanghar, 164 in Tharparkar, 250 in Umerkot, 212 in Sukkur, 217 in Ghotki, 276 in Khairpur, 94 in Nausheroferoz, 150 in Larkana, 90 in Jacobabad, 136 in Kashmore, 145 in Qambar and 116 in Shikrpur district.
Regarding those sent in Jails, 109 of Karachi East, 34 of Karachi Central, 16 of Karachi West, five of Karachi South, two each of District Hyderabad and Thatta have been sent to Jails on account of profiteering and charging of excess rates of various commodities.
