QUETTA - At least three people –two Pakistani nationals and one Iranian security personnel – were killed in an exchange of fire at Pak-Iran border in Chagai district on Saturday.
According to sources, some local tribesmen were hunting at Kacho area, close to Iran border, when Iranian security personnel opened indiscriminate fire on them. As a result, Abdul Kareem, resident of Naukundi, and one of his companions died on the spot. One Iranian security personnel was also killed in the retaliatory fire by the tribesmen.
When contacted, Chagai Deputy Commissioner Tufail Baloch confirmed the incident and said that the Iranian security personnel also took the dead bodies along with them. He said it was yet to be ascertained if the incident occurred on Pakistan’s side or the Iran side of the border.
; however, neither Iranian authorities nor relatives of the deceased tribesmen had contacted local administration so far.
