PESHAWAR - The office-bearers of FATA Football Association (FFA) Tuesday held a protest demonstration against Fata Director Sports Ayaz Khan for allegedly sexually abusing a football player and demanded his immediate arrest.

The protesters led by FFA president Shahid Shenwari gathered outside the press club and were holding placards and banners and chanting slogans against the director.

Talking to the media, the protesters accused the FATA director sports tried to assault international footballer Yasir Afridi of Khyber Agency and demanded exemplary punishment for the culprit.

He also said that due to such immoral behavior of the director, many of the talented players belonging to honorable families of tribal areas hesitate in allowing their kids to become professional sportsmen. The director is an incompetent and corrupt person and has no required qualification, they alleged.

The protesters demanded the government to take notice of the activities of the corrupt official and constitute a judicial commission to conduct impartial inquiry into the allegations. “If a stern action can be taken against inhuman activities in Kasur, why not in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where the international players have been sexually abused,” they added.

Earlier, the office-bearers of Fata Sports Directorate during a press conference rejected the allegations leveled against FATA Director Sports Ayaz Khan, and termed it a conspiracy against him.

FATA Sports Directorate event manager Ayub Khan said that football player Yasir Afridi wanted to get his aims accomplished, but when he failed in doing so, he leveled baseless allegations against the director.

Ayaz also claimed that on the directives of Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the director took action against the so-called players, who had been trying to spoil the spirit of sports.
