LAKKI MARWAT: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has decided to build as many as two hundred ‘container/mobile schools in earthquake and terror ridden areas of the province.

The preparation for container school as pilot project to be deployed in Lakki Marwat is underway.

According to details, the container will not only provide educational services to the pupils, but will also facilitate to protect them from heat and cold.

As pilot project, the first such project is being built in Lakki Marwat district that will complete in the current month. Rs 3 billion have been earmarked for the project in the budget and each container will cost Rs 1 crore 20 lakh.

The provincial Education Minister maintained that a conventional school comprising 6 rooms costs around Rs 2 to 3 crores, making the container schools cost effective.

There’s a mixed reaction from government and opposition members of the provincial assembly. As per the Education Department survey, as many as 3 thousand schools were affected due to earthquake in Abbottabad, Mansehra, Hazara, Kohistan, Battagram and Shangla.

With building of container schools , the students will be able to continue with their academic activities.
