ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Interior today forwarded a letter to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to suspended cellular services in Islamabad, on the occasion of Independence Day.

The mobile phone service will remain suspended for six hours from 6:00am till 12:00pm on sunday as the part of security measures for Independence Day celebrations planned in the federal capital.

Militants often detonate bombs using cell phones and the government has implemented similar service suspensions in the past to avert any untoward incident.

Preparations are underway across the country to celebrate the Independence Day on 14th August in a befitting manner.

This statement comes at a time when Quetta was a target to terrorism two times within this week. A number of people have been arrested who were planning to sabotage Independence Day celebrations.
