ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, Saturday, discussed the overall political situation in Azad Jammu and Kahsmir with the head of the Peoples Muslim League (AJK) Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry in the backdrop of the imminent launching of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) AJK. Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry called on the Prime Minister at the Prime Ministers House Saturday evening. Sources in the PML AJK informed The Nation that the meeting was held in cordial atmosphere and both leaders discussed the political scenario after the stepping in of PML-N in the AJK and its fallout on other political parties. These sources further informed that rumours were abuzz that Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry was also becoming part of the PML-N AJK Chapter besides a number of former Muslim Conference stalwarts including Sardar Sikandar Hayat who remained President as well as Prime Minister of AJK. Sources further said that Prime Minister Gilani wanted to see Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry stay away from PML-N in case they jumped into the politics of AJK only to keep the incumbent set-up in AJK intact. It is pertinent to mention here that Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhrys party is part of the incumbent govt being run by Sardar Attique Ahmad while PPP AJK Chapter is extending them unconditional support to keep the fragile government afloat. Meanwhile, according to the press release issued by the Prime Minister media cell while talking to Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry Prime Minister said that Pakistan desired early settlement of longstanding Kashmir issue as per the United Nations resolutions to enable the Kashmiri people to craft their own destiny and spend their lives according to their aspirations.
