LAHORE - Senior Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab, Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa has directed the law enforcing departments for regular monitoring of the arrangements for maintaining complete harmony and law and order during Moharram-ul-Haram and send regular reports to the provincial control room. He expressed these views while presiding over the cabinet committee meeting to monitor security arrangements during Moharram-ul-Haram on Saturday. He said that law enforcing agencies should remain alert and utilize all available resources for the maintenance of religious harmony and civic peace during Moharram. He also issued instructions for holding regular meetings of peace committee at district, tehsil and thana level and maintaining a close coordination with local Ulema and volunteers for this purpose. He directed law enforcing agencies and field officers of administration to undertake continuous surveillance of the routes of Majalis and religious processions, monitoring from rooftops, proper lighting arrangements and deployment of police officials in plainclothes. He said that a foolproof system of cleanliness, streetlights and lighting on the route of the procession should be evolved and ladies police should also be deployed for security. He said that no one should be allowed in the premises of Majalis and processions without proper checking. The meeting was informed that police and civil administration have been given instructions to maintain coordination between law enforcing agencies and local Ulemas at every level, while in addition to regular forces, volunteers will also play their role for maintaining peace and tranquility. Provincial Minister for Law Rana Sanaullah Khan, Advisors to CM Jahanzaib Barki, Col. (R) Shuja Khanzada, MNA Malik Muhammad Riaz, MPAs Rana Muhammad Arshad, Mehr Ishtiaq Ahmed, Additional IG Police, officers of Law enforcement agencies, Secretaries of Home, Prosecution and Information and high ranking officials of concerned departments were also present on this occasion.
