LAHORE - Leading teachers have stressed upon students admitted to Kalifa Bin Zayed Medical College to study with zeal and dedication and serve the suffering humanity, not with the aim of earning money, but for getting prayers and good wishes from the patients. Kalifa Bin Zayed Medical College arranged white coat ceremony at the Sheikh Zayed Hospital on Saturday to welcome fresh batch of 100 students. Former President College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan and ex-Principal King Edward Medical College Prof Khawaja Sadiq Hussain was the keynote speaker at the ceremony. Additional Secretary Cabinet Division Naveed Arif, Chairman and Dean Sheikh Zayed Medical Complex Prof Dr Anwar A Khan and Principal KBZ Medical College Prof Dr Zafar Iqbal also spoke on the occasion. The Principal of the College introduced faculty members and welcomed all the students who got admission at the prestigious KBZ Medical College. Addressing the participants, Prof Dr Khawaja Sadiq Hussain said that unfortunately Pakistan has gone upward in corruption but he wished that medical profession could not get into it. He urged the students to fulfill entire criterion of becoming a doctor. A doctor is much more than a physician or as surgeon. Getting blessing is more important for a doctor than earning money. It is the best profession and you need to develop love for the patients and commitment for the profession. World is an examination hall and judgment will be given by the Great Judge, the veteran teacher advised the students. He also urged the students to keep punctuality and study wholeheartedly to payback the investment made by parents. Naveed Arif said that the government was carrying out expansion of the College despite scarcity of financial resources. He said that health was priority of the Prime Minister. He expressed hope that the institution would continue to develop in future. Dr Anwar A Khan highlighted the achievements of Postgraduate Medical Institution and Sheikh Zayed Hospital in making good doctors and providing state of the art healthcare facilities to the patients. He expressed hope that the students would learn a lot from the experienced and dedicated faculty of KBZ Medical College. He urged the students to develop love for the profession and the patients as it would go a long way in becoming a good doctor. He also urged the students to take active part in extra curricular activities. Prof Zafar Iqbal said that the faculty members have so far produced more research papers than any other institution. He introduced faculty members and fresh batch of students one by one.
