KARACHI – An activist of Muttahida Qaumi Movement among six people were gunned down in separate incidents of violence here on Tuesday.
A former Unit Incharge of MQM was gunned down at Jamshed Road within the remits of Jamshed quarter police station.
Police said the victim namely Nadeem Abbasi, 38, was standing at Dabbu Club where unidentified assailants riding a motorbike came and started indiscriminate firing. He died on the spot and the culprits managed to flee from the scene. After getting information, police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to Civil Hospital Karachi for autopsy and later handed over to heirs. Police suspected that the ongoing wave of target killing was the motive behind the murder.
Two people were wounded near Allahwali Churangi in Bilal Colony Police precincts.
Police said that the victims namely Aslam Qiamkhani and Nadeem were going somewhere on a motorbike along with Nadeem’s son namely Azhar when unidentified culprits riding on a motorbike intercepted his motorbike and sprayed bullets on him. Resultantly they sustained multiple bullet injuries. Police rushed on the spot after getting information and shifted them to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctor pronounced deaths of Aslam and Nadeem and admitted Azhar for treatment. Police said Nadeem was affiliated with a local weekly newspaper and the motive behind the killing has yet to be ascertained till the filing of this report.
A rickshaw driver was shot dead at Shah Waliullah Road within the limits of Kalri police station.
Police said that the victim identified as Ali Abbas, 25, was sitting in his rickshaw at the said place when unidentified armed riders came close to him and escaped after shooting him multiple times. He died on the spot. Police shifted the body to CHK for postmortem and later handed over to family. Police suspected the motive behind the killing was personal dispute.
A bullet-riddled body of a young man belonged to Hindu community was found from Hassan Owlia Road within the limits of Pak colony police station.
Police said that the victim identified as Aakash, 23, resident of Garden area, left home for his workplace when unidentified culprits kidnapped him and later threw his body at the said place. Police said that the victim was rickshaw mechanic and the motive behind the murder has yet to be ascertained.
A man was shot dead while another wounded near Z-2 bus stop within the jurisdiction of Iqbal Market police station.
Police said that the victims namely Hashmat and Zahir were going somewhere on a motorbike when unidentified armed motorcyclists intercepted them and opened fire on them. Resultantly, they sustained multiple bullet injuries. Police shifted them to ASH where doctor pronounced Zahir’s death and admitted Hashmat. The motive behind the incident has yet to be ascertained.
