LAHORE – Lahore Development Authority on Tuesday took action against illegal housing schemes involved in extensions while other defaulter societies were visited too.

In a joint endeavor, staff of the Metropolitan and Town Planning Wings of LDA stopped the development works being carried out in the illegally extended area by the management of River Edge Housing Scheme, situated at Multan Road.

LDA had already lodged an FIR against the said scheme, for violating the law, some time back, but to no avail. Therefore, LDA had to take action against the scheme safeguarding hard earned savings of buyers.

River Edge Housing Scheme had been approved by LDA in 2006 for an area of 765.75 kanals. It comprised of four blocks namely Topaz, Sapphire Jasmine and Jade. LDA came to know that the management of the River Edge Housing Scheme had extended the scheme illegally and had also launched illegal blocks in the names of Rose, Tulip and Gold besides illegally extending Topaz block.

The revised plan of River Edge Housing Scheme including the plan for illegal extension of scheme submitted by its management had already been rejected by LDA as majority of the Khasras were falling in the notified khaddar/ green area.

LDA had informed the general public not to purchase any plot in the illegal extension of the scheme or mortgaged plots.

Meanwhile management of the scheme had assured LDA that neither it will illegally extend the area of the scheme nor will it sell the illegally carved out plots to the people. It had started dismantling the infrastructure constructed in the illegally extended area.

Commercialisation defaulters: In connection with ongoing drive against defaulters of commercialisation fee, staff of the Commercialisation Directorate of LDA sealed a total of 20 properties situated along Main Road Samanabad. These properties had been causing huge financial loss to LDA by denying payment of requisite amount.

Transfer LDA: LDA DG Ahad Khan Cheema on Tuesday transferred Farhana Mumtaz, Assistant Director Law, Administration Directorate, LDA and posted her as Deputy Director Law (Labour Courts) in Law Directorate, LDA. She will also hold the additional charge of the post of Assistant Director (Law), Administration Directorate, LDA while Food department Section Officer (SO) Mukhtar Ahmad has been transferred and posted as Section Officer Services-III (SOS-III).

Demotion: Staff of the Town Planning Wing of Lahore Development Authority demolished an under-construction marriage hall at Multan road, near Hanjerwal, on Tuesday. The structure was being constructed in LDA’s controlled area without getting the plot commercialised. Building plan for the said structure had also not been got approved from LDA.
