LAHORE – Gunmen shot dead a 26-year-old man for contracting marriage to their sister against their will in the Factory Area, police said late Tuesday.

After visiting the crime scene and collecting initial information, investigators said that the man, identified as Ali Raza , was gunned down by his brothers-in-law on Must Iqbal Road. The police have removed the body to morgue for autopsy. No arrest made was so far.

According to police investigators, the woman’s brother Mubashir  with his five accomplices attacked her spouse outside his residence on Must Iqbal Road. The shooters fled on bikes, the cops said, adding that it was a case of honour killing because Ali Raza had eloped with the sister of Mubashir.

Honour killings are common in this status conscious society, where police report dozens of such killings every year. Most of the victims are killed by their relatives with maximum chances to escape punishment due to one or another reason.

Bodies found: An unidentified man was recovered dead from Tibbi City area, police said Tuesday. Some passersby spotted the dead body lying near Ali Park and informed the police. The police reached the spot and removed it to the moegur for autopsy.

Meanwhile, two more dead bodies were recovered from Sanda and Badami Bagh police limits. Police claimed that the men, yet to be identified, apparently were drug addicts who died of cold weather. Bodies were shifted to morgue.

Accidents:  Three people were killed and 25 other wounded in as many road mishaps in different parts of the City, police and rescue workers said on Tuesday.

At least 25 factory workers were wounded when their bus turned turtle after hitting a car in the Johar Town area on early Tuesday. The condition of five of the injured was reported to be serious.

Police said that the bus carrying workers was heading towards the factory when a car smashed into it near Expo Center. Police said that the accident took place because of over speeding during rush hours. The injured were shifted to a local hospital immediately.

A 45-year-old cyclist was crushed to death by a rashly driven car at Bund Road, police said on Tuesday. The deceased, identified as Maqsood Ahmad, was on his way home when a car hit his two-wheeler. The driver along with the car fled away, leaving the man dead on the spot.

A 35-year-old man, who was admitted to a local hospital with serious injuries a day earlier died there on Tuesday. Police identified the deceased as Ajmal, who sustained serious injuries during a road mishap in Johar Town area.
