PESHAWAR - The district and sessions court Tuesday rejected the petition of Syed Aqil Shah regarding temporary stoppage to a trial and ordered the convicted minister to appear before the court on January 08, 2012.

The hearing was started in the court of district and session judge, Shebar Khan. The counsellor for Syed Aqil Shah informed the court that a civil suit is also continued against provincial minister Syed Aqil Shah in Lahore High Court that is why the court is requested to stop the trial of Aqil Shah in criminal case.

The district and sessions judge rejected the petition of Syed Aqil Shah and ordered him to appear before the court on January 08.

Earlier on October 17, the district and sessions judge already indicted Sports Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhawa Syed Aqil Shah in a fake degree case as he filed a fake graduation degree before the Election Commission of Pakistan for contesting the 2008 general elections.

It is worth mentioning here that on the complaint of the regional election commissioner (REC), a case of a fake degree was filed against Aqil Shah.

If convicted, the minister could be sentenced to up to three years imprisonment.

Likewise two months back, the court had also issued bail-able warrant against the minister during hearing on October 24 for not appearing before the court but later withdrew the warrant when the minister appeared in person before the bench.
