Doctor, policeman among six shot dead in Karachi

At least six people, a doctor and a policeman among them, were shot dead here in Karachi on Wednesday as violence continued to haunt Karachiites despite ‘targeted’ operations of law enforcers against criminal elements.
Police said unidentified gunmen riding motorbikes opened fire on two labourers in SITE’s Metroville area, killing them on the spot, before fleeing from the scene.
In another incident, a doctor, identified as Dr. Zubair, was gunned down in Korangi No.1 area.
A policeman was targeted in Baldia town locality this morning. Police said he was injured in a gun attack and later taken to hospital where he succumbed to injuries. He was posted at Saeed Abad police station.
Meanwhile, two people were shot dead in Sherpao Colony at Landhi area. The victims were relatives to each other. Police says motives behind the ‘target-killing’ are yet to be investigated.
At least eight people, two Rangers men among them, were killed in drive-by assaults in different areas of the city on Tuesday, with the paramilitary troops and police claiming arrest of dozens of criminals in their ongoing ‘targeted’ operation.
