ISLAMABAD - The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has expedited its efforts to regularise the illegally appointed hundreds of internees in its different divisions.

According to available documents with Online, it came to know that year back Higher education commission had appointed 188 candidates in its different divisions over political influence and in this regard violated the predefined criteria for internship. The documents revealed that 43 candidates were appointed in Human Resource Division Section, 18 were placed in Information Technology (IT) and four candidates were appointed in Human Resources Management Section. Higher Education Commission selected these candidates without giving any advertisement in the national dailies and currently officials are making efforts to regularise these illegally selected candidates.

An Official source said that the authority has adopted discriminatory attitude with daily wagers and contract employees, as these people are waiting for their regularisation for years but no steps have been taken by the authority.  This discriminatory attitude is spreading sense of deprivation among these employees. The source told that earlier candidates were appointed for six months period on paid internship but after completion of their duration authority is continuously making efforts for extension of internship period of these candidates. The source further told that most of these internees have bachelor degrees whereas according to government policy the internee must have an educational qualification of master’s degree. In this regard when this scribe tried to contact Chairman HEC  to get his point of view he did not respond to phone calls or text messages.
