Four-member body set up on B’pur PGMI

LAHORE – Secretary Health has constituted a 4-member committee for preparation a practicable action plan for establishing Postgraduate Medical Institute (PGMI) in Bahawalpur.
The spokesman of Health Department said that the committee will prepare plan for making the institute functional from academic year 2013-14. In this connection, Secretary Health Arif Nadeem has constituted a committee headed by Principal Postgraduate Medical Institute /LGH Prof Anjum Habib Vohra. Other members include Principal Quaid-e-Azam Medical College Bahawalpur, Prof Kh Haroon Khursheed, Principal Allama Iqbal Medical College Prof Mahmood Shaukat and Chief Planning Officer Health Department Abdul Haq Bhatti. The committee will meet on weekly basis and can co-opt any technical expert for assistance. The spokesman said that by establishing PGMI at Bahawalpur the scope of higher medical education would be enhanced for the students of Southern Punjab at local level as well as better health facilities would also be increased for the people of far-flung areas.
