BAHAWALPUR - Police claimed to have arrested from Chishtian three armed members of a gang allegedly involved in the circulation of fake currency across the Punjab while their three accomplices managed to escape.
The police also seized 690 currency notes of Rs1,000, printing equipment, chemicals and weapons, besides confiscating their car. Inspector Shahzeb Khan of city police station said that on a tip-off, the police erected pickets and stopped the car and arrested Ashiq Hussain of Zahir Pir, Nazim Hussain of Ghumandpur, Haji Ahmad Soomro of Taranda Muhammad Panaah while the other three jumped out of the moving car and disappeared in the nearby standing crop.
