RAWALPINDI - Four unidentified robbers looted cash, mobile phone, wristwatch and mobile cards to the tune of thousands of rupees from a shop owner at gunpoint here at Bakery Chowk, the area within the precincts of Police Station Westridge, informed source here on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, an armed mugger deprived a poor driver of his taxicab at gunpoint at Bahter Road, the limits of PS Saddar Wah Cannt.

According to sources, four intruders holding sophisticated weapons stormed into Khatak General Store, located at Bakey Chowk, and held the owner Wisal-ur-Rehman hostage at gunpoint. Later, the burglars collected Rs 143,000 cash, wristwatch, mobile phone and mobile cards worth Rs 230,000 and fled. The victim owner lodged a complaint with area police, who have filed a case against the robbers and launched investigation. However, no arrest or recovery has been made so far. On the other hand, Mumtaz Hussain told PS Saddar Wah Cannt officials that an unknown robber snatched his taxicab (RIT-9042) at gunpoint at Bahter Road.

Police took up case and started probing the matter.
