LAHORE - Maple Leaf beat Magic River by four goals to four in the opening match of the Winter Cup Polo tournament here on Tuesday at Lahore Polo Club.

After an empty first chukker, Magic River, having half goal lead on handicap, surprised Maple Leaf by snatching lead in the following chukker through Agha Murtaz Khan who translated a 60 yards penalty. Maple Leaf answered harshly by adding two goals with Hassan Agha converting a 40 yards penalty and Mohsin Atta Khan produced a field goal to take his side 2-1 up by the end of the second chukker.

The third chukker saw both the sides adding one goal each with Asif Tiwana scoring from Maple Leaf after crowing solo efforts and Agha Murtaza narrowing lead from Magic River off a spot penalty.

The fourth chukker produced only one goal and the scorer was Hassan Agha who scored with calculated shot in a field move.
