SADIQABAD - The representatives of social, religious, media and trade organisation criticised the PML-F leaders for praising the Rahim Yar Khan district police despite “police torture” on journalists, lawyers and traders and registration of “fake cases” across the district.
“Under the leadership of the present district police officer, the police tortured journalists, lawyers and businessmen. The political leaders’ pat on the back of the district police is equivalent to rubbing salt into their wounds,” said the representatives while talking to the media. They included Abbas Taj, Mehmoodul Hasan, Ghulam Mustafa, M AShraf, Irfan Arshad, M Faizan, Irshad Ahmad, M Younus, Barkat Ali, Ibrahim Khan and Saeed Ahmad.
The office-bearers of different organisations said that the police are responsible for providing protection to the people’s lives and property. And those torture the peace-loving citizens do not deserve tributes. They were of the view that PML-F Punjab leader Syed Ahmad Mehmood should direct his political companions to sympathise with those who had been tortured and not to praise the oppressors. They said that the praise, after police torture on trader Mian Farhad, lawyers and journalists was equivalent to stirring up the local people’s anger.
