SIALKOT - A protest demonstration was held as a retired police constable was shot dead for offering resistance during a dacoity at his house in village Rohaila-Begowala, Sambrial here.

Six dacoits stormed into the house of Muhammad Akhtar, held all the family members at gunpoint and started looting them. The former constable tried to overpower a dacoit while another dacoit opened fire on him.

Resultantly, he suffered bullet injuries and the outlaws managed to escape. The inured was being taken to Sialkot Hospital but on his way he succumbed to the injuries.

The protesters blocked the traffic for more than one hour on the Sialkot-Wazirabad Road near village Rohaila and demanded immediate arrest of the outlaws. The senior police officials rushed to the spot and negotiated with the protesters, assuring theme of early arrest of the perpetrators. On the assurance, the protesters dispersed peacefully.
