Parental guidance

Safety in any sport is paramount, however in street cricket most preventive measures are neglected. Street cricket is played in parks, streets, parking lots and apartment corridors and the absence of helmet and body padding puts these young players at high risk of injury.
There are many cases of ocular damage, after being struck by a ball and fractures due to falling or tripping, entailing both players and the pedestrians. To avoid such fatal incidents parents need to be vigilant. Keeping in view the best interest of players, awareness about wearing safety equipment while playing cricket, at all levels, should be raised. Furthermore the Government should also try to provide proper grounds in all residential areas so that our youngsters can be safe and healthy.
