Wah Cantt - A smuggler was died during a chase on Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway (M-1) near Brahma Bhattar Interchange on Thursday, National Highway and Motorway Police officials said.
NH&MP spokesman Mohammad Zubair Khan said that custom officials were chasing Toyota Corolla Car (FE-681) when it hit it during interception, resultantly the car turned turtle and an alleged smuggler later identified as Hijrat Ullah (35), a resident of Nowshera died on the spot while his colleague Amir injured critically.
Soon after the incident motorway police officials rushed to the spot and shifted the injured and dead to tehsil headquarters hospital Hassanabdal.
Later the other colleagues of the smugglers blocked motorway for around one hour to protest against the customs officials act, however after one hour they disbursed peacefully. Police registered a case and started further investigation.
