LAHORE - Tariq Mehmood Thursday topped the senior amateurs’ gross section at the conclusion of the first two days of the 4th Quaid-e-Azam Open Golf Championship which is in full swing here at the Lahore Gymkhna golf course.

In this five-day event, the first two days were allocated to the events for senior amateurs, senior golf professionals and ladies. As for the main championship, the competition will commence today (Friday) and the professional champions of the country will start the race for cash prizes and honors.

Tariq Mehmood of Garrison Golf Club topped senior amateurs’ gross with an overall aggregate of 158. Imran Ahmed of Lahore Gymkhana was second with gross score of 160 while Shoaib Bokhari of Gymkhana was third with 163. In net section of senior amateurs, Abdul Nafey (Gymkhana) was winner with score of 148. Rai Azizullah was second and Col Tashfeen Baig was third. In senior professionals’ event, M Iqbal of Lahore Gymkhana was top with a gross score of 144. Iftikhar Ahmed was second and Hafeez Masih was third.

In ladies section, Ghazala Yasmin won the first gross while Dr Rubab Haider was second and Dr Asma Shami third. In net, Tehmina Ahmed was first, Zahida Durrani second and Sameea Javed Ali third.
