WASHINGTON - The United States will continue to work with the elected government in Pakistan, a State Department spokesperson said, while upholding the right to peaceful protests.

“We work closely with the elected government there. That we will continue. We also support peaceful protests around the world,” spokesperson Jen Psaki told reporters at the daily press briefing on Thursday.

She was responding to a question about US support for democracy in Pakistan and the impact of the continuing protests in Islamabad.
