ACE, FIA tighten noose around corrupt officials

SIALKOT-The special teams of the intelligence agencies have started collecting the details regarding the properties, businesses, vehicles and bank accounts of the corrupt officials of the government departments.
They are focusing on the corrupt officials of the Revenue Department, TMAs, Customs, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Highways, Excise and Taxation, Irrigation, Gepco, SNGPL and Food Department in Gujranwala Division.
According to the senior officials, the corrupt officials and employees of these departments have become millionaire though the malpractice, fraud and corruption by earning money and wealth through the unfair means. Their several inquiries were already under completion in Anti Corruption Establishment (ACE) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
The intelligence agencies are also getting complete official data of these high profile inquiries and compiling the separate lists of the corrupt officials and other employees of these departments.
Most of the corrupt officials have got their properties registered in the name of their wives and other family members, while several corrupt have their properties under their own ownership.
SEVEN GANGS BUSTED
Police busted seven inter-district gangs of dacoits, robbers and thieves, and arrested 31 accused during a special campaign the last month.
The district police officer said that the accused had confessed to conducting 72 incidents of dacoity, robbery and theft in the region. He revealed that the police have also arrested as 297 notorious proclaimed offenders (POs), besides, recovering 4 illicit Kalashnikovs, four rifles, 57 pistols, four revolvers and three draggers form them. He added that the police also recovered 41kg of fine quality Charas and 976 bottles of wine besides arresting 13 drunkards. Police have sent the accused behind bars.
