LAHORE - Eid Miladun Nabi will be celebrated across the country with religious fervour today to mark the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

All arrangements for the purpose have been completed. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is scheduled to address an international Seerat and Qirat conference in the city. Delegates from a number of Muslim countries are also attending the conferences, sponsored by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Punjab Auqaf Department.

All public and private institutions will remain closed for the day. Important buildings and mosques have been illuminated on the public holiday.

A number of rallies will be held in the city, which will be addressed by religious scholars. Police have made adequate security arrangements for the rallies.

JUP, PAT and a number of religious organisations are to hold conferences in the day. Tanzeem-i-Islami will hold a seminar at Quran Auditorium, Ataturk Block, New Garden Town. Hafiz Akif Saeed will preside the seminar.

According to a report, the Ministry of Water and Power has directed the power distribution companies (DISCOs) to avoid routine load shedding on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH).

The ministry has also ordered to ensure presence of emergency teams in the field to restore power supply at earliest in case of any technical problem.

Shehbaz highlights Prophet’s peace message

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has congratulated Muslims around the world on the happy occasion of birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

In his message, Shehbaz Sharif said the birth of last Prophet (PBUH), who is benefactor of all the humanity, is the supreme event of human history. “Allah Almighty has sent the Holy Prophet (PBUH) as blessings for the entire universe. The teachings and the holy life of our Prophet is a beacon of light for us,” he added.

The CM further said this is the day which gives us a lesson of following the teachings of Quran and Sunnah in the real sense. He highlighted that cruelty, excesses, injustice and lawlessness can be eliminated from the society only through following the teachings of the holy Prophet (PBUH).

Shehbaz Sharif said that the last Prophet (PBUH) brought a revolution in Arabic society through his good deeds and laid the foundation of a peaceful and civilised society through justice and changed their condition, which is unparalleled in the world’s history. “The Holy Prophet PBUH has given the message of peace, tranquillity, brotherhood, respect of humanity, equality, tolerance and justice. The society can be rid of problems like terrorism and extremism by following the holy life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH),” Shehbaz stressed.

“He (PBUH) gave the world the best socio-economic system through which we can change our lives. It is demand of the love to Holy Prophet (PBUH) that we should shun regional, parochial and linguistic differences and hold strongly the string of Allah Almighty.”

On the holy occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi, the CM urged, we should offer special prayers for the development, stability, peace and prosperity of the country. “On this day, we have to pledge to make efforts for leading our lives in accordance with the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH),” he reiterated.
