LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, zero tolerance policy has been adopted against corruption which has resulted in transparency in government affairs, eradication of corruption and improvement in service delivery besides image of the country has improved at international level.

In a statement issued on yesterday, he said that the solid efforts made for the eradication of corruption on behalf of the government are also being appreciated at global level. He said that transparency and merit are hallmark of present government.

Recruitments have been made only on merit in all departments including police, he added. Shehbaz Sharif said that billions of rupees have been saved in development projects first time in the history of the country and all mega projects are proof to transparency in development projects.

He said that situation has substantially improved during the tenure of Pakistan Muslim League-N and people were witness to improvement in different walks of life.

The chief minister said He said that ensuring transparency at every level is among top priorities of PML-N government.

Effective steps have been taken for the promotion of transparency and merit and elimination of corruption, he added.

The Chief Minister said that Pakistan Muslim League-N government is free from corruption and no one can raise finger on transparency in development projects. He said that a new trend has been promoted by completing projects with transparency and high standard and Rs 112 billion of the nation have been saved by ensuring transparency in three gas-based power plants being set up in the province.

He said that zero tolerance against corruption from lower level to upper level is yielding better results. He said that Pakistan is the only country in South Asia making successful efforts for eliminating corruption.

He said that US Journal “Foreign Policy” has also lauded effective steps of the present government against corruption. Shehbaz Sharif said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, solid steps are being taken for coping with the challenges faced by the country and each and every penny of national exchequer is being spent on welfare of the people honestly.

Shehbaz Sharif said that we are moving forward with new determination and spirit for progress of the country and prosperity of the people and Pakistan will achieve the goal of progress and prosperity by following golden principles of hard work and honesty.

He said that thousands of megawatt electricity will be added to national grid with the completion of energy projects by the end of 2017 which will result in elimination of load-shedding. He said that with the completion of gas-based power projects, not only 3600 megawatt electricity will be generated but the consumers will also get cheap electricity.

Shehbaz Sharif reached Lahore yesterday morning after his visit to London. He had gone to London for medical checkup. During medical checkup, all medical tests of Chief Minister were found normal and doctors termed him complete fit.

Meanwhile, Shehbaz Sharif has strongly condemned blasts in Istanbul, Turkey. The Chief Minister has expressed deep sense of sorrow and grief over loss of precious human lives including police officials in the blasts.

He has prayed for the early recovery of the injured and said that we are with the people and government of Turkey in this hour of distress and added that all our sympathies are with the bereaved families and we equally share the grief of Turk people. Shehbaz Sharif said that terrorists are enemy to humanity and these brutal beasts have no religion.  

Also, Shehbaz Sharif has expressed deep sense of sorrow and grief over the death of six persons of a family due to falling of a car in a canal near Shujaabad. He expressed condolences and sympathies with the bereaved family and prayed that may Allah Almighty rest the departed souls in eternal peace and grant courage and strength to the members of bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude.
