Auction charity website Charity Buzz is currently offering one lucky bidder (and their guest) the chance to score a coffee date with none other than the president-elect's daughter Ivanka Trump. The date will be sometime in 2017, depending to Ivanka's busy schedule, and will take place at either Trump Tower in NYC or Trump International Hotel in Washington DC, naturally. Proceeds from the auction will go to Ivanka's brother Eric's foundation to benefit St Jude's Children Research Hospital.
According to Cosmopolitan, although it's for a great cause, at $50,000 the estimated value of the prize is pretty steep — especially given that the coffee date will only last 30 to 45 minutes. Already though, there are already ten bids that go up to $18,500, and with 11 days left to bid it's very possible someone out there will be prepared to put up the $50k in full. The question is: who will they be and how will they be vetted?
According to the additional details, "the winner and guest must pass criminal background check and be approved by the United States Secret Service." Charity Buzz "reserves the right to decline the winner on any grounds they deem fit," and the Trump Organization can veto folks they don't like the sound of too. The winner may take a photo but cannot bring anything to be signed. The fine print also stipulates that a member of Secret Service will be present throughout the duration of the meet and greet.
That the auction's winner and their time with Ivanka could constitute a conflict of interest concerning the Trump family's businesses and, you know, The Donald's presidency is a concern; on this point, Charitybuzz.com offered the following statement:
