KARACHI - The American Heart Association (AHA) has presented “Paul Dudley White International Science Team Award” to five Pakistani scientists for presenting a high ranked poster at the scientific session 2017 held in California during November 11 to 15. Three scholars out of the total are directly from Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research (PCMD), University of Karachi (UoK), a senior official of International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi said on Monday.
The names of these PCMD scientists include Associate Professor Dr. Asmat Salim, Dr Irfan Khan and Rida-e- Maria Qazi, while Dr Kanwal Haneef and Dr Nadia Naeem, who have done their PhD at the PCMD under Dr. Asmat Salim, are from National Center for Proteomics, University of Karachi, and Dow University of Health Sciences, Ojha Campus, Karachi respectively, he said.
In an official letter, the American Heart Association informed the team of scientists that AHA selected the five Pakistani scientists as an “AHA 2017 Paul Dudley White International Scholars.” He said that this award recognised Pakistani authors with the highest ranked abstract from Pakistan at the scientific session 2017 held in California.
He maintained that Dr Asmat Salim received this letter from the American association because she was the presenting-author on the abstracts.
