ISLAMABAD - An additional strength of 800 cops have been deputed in 22 police stations of capital with the purpose to combat crime effectively and promptly address public complaints, informed a police spokesman on Saturday.

Muhammad Ahsan Younus, after assuming the charge as Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, has taken effective measures to overcome shortage of strength at police stations and provided 800 police constables, he said.

Earlier, a total of 604 police constables were serving at police stations, he added.

For these deployments, police stations in Islamabad were divided into two categories i.e. ‘A’ and ‘B.’ Each police station falling in category ‘A’ has been provided strength of 80 to 100 and additional strength of 60 to 80 police constables has been provided to those in category ‘B.’

Following the directions of IGP Islamabad Muhammad Ahsan Younus, this strength to Operations Division has been provided from Central Police Office and Logistic Division.

IG Islamabad Muhammad Ahsan Younus has directed subordinates to clear dues of families of deceased cops

Moreover, Eagle Squad has been affiliated with Safe City Project while navigation system has been installed in police vehicles to ensure effective patrolling. The IGP Islamabad said the purpose of these steps is to overcome the shortage of policemen at police stations, enhance police strength in crime reported areas and respond effectively in case of any mishap.

Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muhammad Ahsan Younas has directed AIG Establishment and SSP Logistic to clear all the dues of families of cops who had died in the line of duty.

He also ordered recruitment of siblings of the deceased cops purely on merit.

IG Muhammad Ahsan Younas issued these directions after meeting with families of the deceased cops in Police Line HQ here on Saturday.

He asked the subordinates that expense for education and accommodation of siblings of the deceased cops should also be paid as per law and on merit.

“We should focus on schooling of siblings of the cops who died during service,” he said. He urged the families of the deceased cops to get the siblings recruited as naib qasids in police department as per orders of court as we have the quota for these jobs.

“All the naib qasids will be promoted to next rank after two years so there is no need worry to get this job,” he said.

“My doors are always open for families of martyrs and cops who died during service,” said IG Muhammad Ahsan Younas.
