LAHORE Justice Iftikhar Hussain Chaudhry of the Lahore High Court Friday issued notice to the Deputy Attorney General (DAG) for his appearance in a petition which seeks sedition case against former military president General (r) Pervez Musaharraf and his trial under Article 6 of the Constitution. On the petition of Rana Jamil advocate, the court asked the DAG to ensure his presence on February 15 to let the court know what stand the government has about prosecuting Musharraf. The petitioner has levelled serious allegations on Musharraf, starting with his toppling down the elected government on October 12, 1999, selling out Pakistans vital interests to America, violation of the Constitution on November 3, 2007 and detention of judges to the degree of bringing functioning of the judges to grinding halt, killing of Nawab Akbar Bugti, Jamia Hafsa carnage, torture and killing of the lawyers, handling over Pakistani citizens including Dr Aafia Siddiqui to American authorities for the sake of money and laying down foundation of such a set up in the country that the nation has as yet not come out of its vicious circle. The petitioner has prayed to the court to charge Musharraf for the said allegations and put him under trial for high treason. He also seeks extradition of Musharraf from abroad.
