ISLAMABAD - Majority of political parties has rejected the newly 'truncated cabinet on Friday calling it an old wine in new bottom. However, ANP categorically supported the new cabinet while MQM gives a diplomatic response to the issue. Talking to this correspondent, the senior leaders of mainstream political parties straightway rejected the induction of 22 ministers in the new cabinet saying that this was an exercise conducted to deviate attention from the real issues of survival the Pakistani public confronted today. PML-N central leader Khawaja Saad Rafique said, This is old wine in new bottle. Nothing has changed. All those ministers who had earned bad reputation due to their notorious deeds are back in the saddle. I congratulate Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Qamar Zaman Kaira and others who are not part of this cabinet. The PML-N rejects this cabinet which is formed to conceal real issues like corruption, lawlessness, poverty etc. JUI-F leader Maulana Amjad Khan said JUI-F rejects the formation of new cabinet, which is a tactic to divert the attention of masses from the governments submission to US dictation, inequality and injustice. To a query, he dispelled the reports that the JUI-F could not stay away from power and it would join the cabinet in the second phase. On behalf of my party, let me clarify it once for all, we are not going to join this cabinet and we would never like to be part of such a corrupt and US slave government, he said MQMs central leadership was reportedly engaged in a party meeting and Farooq Sattar, Haider Abbas Rizvi, Waseem Akhtar, Faisal Sabzwari and Babar Ghori did not answer the calls despite tried repeatedly. Zahid Malik, in charge MQM Punjab Zone, hinted that the MQM might join the federal cabinet in the second phase. Deliberations with the Government are underway but a final decision is yet to be taken, he said. Zahid said that MQM was satisfied with all the members of former as well as new cabinet. We hope that our nine-point economic agenda would be implemented and corruption would be eliminated, he said. Central leader PML-Q Ameer Muqam said, Those people who filled their pockets and emptied the national exchequer are back in business. What was the point of this exercise? We want a cabinet that consists of those people who are clean and dont have a notorious past. These rulers are not sincere with the masses and country. They are saving their Government at the cost of this country. No good is expected of them. I wonder how people like Raja Pervaiz Ashraf who have been degraded and kicked out of the cabinet would face the masses, he asked. Professor Khursheed from Jamaat-e-Islami said that the formation of new cabinet was not only a useless exercise but a disappointing step as well. The so called rightsizing of the cabinet is done to shift the focus of attention from Raymond Davis case, he believed. Zahid Kazmi from PTI said that the rulers have lost their nerves after public revolutions in Tunisia and Egypt. The ruling elites fear that their black deeds would trigger same kind of revolution in Pakistan. The way Government is handling Raymond Davis case is highly shameful and it has annoyed the masses to a great deal so the new cabinet is formed to diffuse pressure, he argued. Shah Mehmood Qureshi is reluctant to join this cabinet which shows where do these rulers stand. Previously it was a brigade of 60 plus people in the cabinet, now they are 23, it makes no differences, theyre all the same, he deplored.
