11 new grid stations on the cards



MULTAN - The Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco) will construct 11 new grid stations besides upgrading three others and installing transmission lines at an estimated cost of Rs10.27 billion in South Punjab region, disclosed Mepco sources.
According to detail, three new grid stations namely Qasim Bagh, Man Kot and Batti Bangla will be constructed while four transmission line installation projects be completed with Prime Minister’s fund at a cost of Rs995 million. Similarly, six grid stations namely Jail Road, Makhdoompur, Bahawalpur Cantt, Bhong, DG Khan 11 and Sahiwal 111 will be constructed with the financial support of World Bank. The capacity of Head Sidhnai, Lal Sohanra and Khairpur grid stations will be upgraded to 132 KV from 66 while the power transformers of Jahanian, Mailsi, Hasilpur, Jampur and Khangarh grid stations will be enhanced at a cost of Rs4.8 billion.
The projects to be completed with the financial assistance of Asian Development Bank include two new grid stations at Miranpur Kambar besides upgradation of Alipur, Shadan Lund, Fatehpur and Noorsir grid stations.
