LAHORE – One more heart patient, a woman, died at a hospital here on Saturday. With the death of Bashiran Bibi (60), breathed her last in Mayo Hospital, the death toll from reaction of medicines provided free of cost by Punjab Institute of Cardiology has reached 147.

Meanwhile, a spokesman of the Health Department has advised all the heart patients availing medicines from the PIC to use the tablets, namely Atenolol (by Zafa Pharma in Karachi), Solprin (by Pharmawise of Lahore), Cardiovastin (of Mega Pharmaceutical of Lahore) and Corcont (made by Swiss Pharmaceutical in Karachi) as these contain no contents which could cause health hazards.

“On the instructions of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, the samples of the above-mentioned medicines were sent to laboratories in the UK and Switzerland for analysis and it has been verified by foreign labs that these medicines are safe.”

He said the patients can also take guidance from the helpline in this regard.
