LAHORE  –  The annual prize distribution and Sports Day was held at Government Girls College for Women Samanabad on Saturday.
The chief guest was Maryam Nawaz Sharif, daughter of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Maryam Nawaz, who stepped into politics a few months back, said that 21st Century was the century of women. The women if given opportunities can play a vital role to put the country on a way to progress.  Composed and up-coming politician drew a great applause from the students on the occasion.
Addressing to the teachers, students and parents, Maryam appreciated a group of four Girl Guides of the college, who represented Pakistan in Thailand.
Talking to the media on the occasion, Maryam said “I stepped into politics just to support her father”. Responding a query, she said that she had no desires to take part in the coming Senate Elections. She vowed to penalise the hands behind the catastrophes of the PIC and Kharak Factory incidents.
The students presented colourful programmes to entertain their parents and guests of honour. A musical chair activity among female guests amused the students and teachers.
The chief guest distributed prizes and trophies among the students who stood high in different activities. Maryam also met with the members of Nazaria-i-Pakistan Society of the College.
College Principal Prof Dr Tasneem, presented annual report and announced that the College would remain closed on Monday as the Sports Gala concluded.
