ISLAMABAD - M Mudassar annexed the ATF/PTF Junior Tennis Tournament title by beating M Zaid Mujahid in a thrilling three-set final played here at Senator Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex on Tuesday. Mudassar won the first set 6-4 by breaking the ninth game of Zaid by hitting some classic shorts. Mudassar took 3-2 lead in the second set but Zaid fought back bravely to not only level the score at 3-3 but also went on to take the second set 6-4. The third and final set was marked with aces and combination of forehand/backhand drives. Both the players displayed quality tennis. Mudassar won the final set 6-4 by breaking the 10th game of Zaid. The six-day camp and the tournament were sponsored by Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) and was run by former Davis Cupper Mushaf Zia and four national coaches Jaleel Khan, Mehmood Khan, Rashid Ali and Moin Khan. Mushaf highlighted the performance of the camp players and hoped they could improve their game with hard work and proper training and could bring laurels for the country. PTF president Syed Kaleem Imam also said that the PTF would fully support the game in the country despite financial constraints. PTF patron Senator Syed Dilawar Abbas, also ATF vice president, was the chief guest and distributed prizes among the players. The PTF chief and Argentinean Ambassador Rodolfo J Martin-Saravia were guest of honours and also distributed prizes among the top performers.–Staff Reporter
