‘Terrorist on mission’ captured

LAHORE  - The security guards of a religious seminary thwarted a terror attempt by capturing a suspected terrorist when he was on a recce in the north cantonment area, sources said on Tuesday.
The alleged terrorist, identified as Salman, a resident of Swabi district of Khyber PK province, has been shifted to an undisclosed location for further interrogation. Police sources said the suspect was on reconnaissance mission around Jamia Manzoor-ul-Islam when the security guards noticed his suspicious behaviour. They captured the man and handed him over to the police. The investigators have also recovered maps of important buildings from his possession. During the process of investigations, the 22-year-old suspect disclosed to the investigators that he was on a ‘mission’ as his handlers had planned to carry out bombing by targeting the madrassa. Presently, there are more than 2,000 students studying at Jamia Manzoor-ul-Islam.
By bombing the madrassa, the terrorists had planned to create anarchy in the Punjab province. Further investigation is underway.
