ISLAMABAD - The federal government yesterday transferred Secretary Interior Shahid Khan and posted him as secretary to President of Pakistan.

According to the notifications issued by the Establishment Division, Secretary Climate Change Arif Khan has replaced Shahid Khan.

Former Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Siddique has also been appointed as Special Secretary Interior Division.

Official sources told The Nation that Shahid Khan had has been conveyed earlier about the development and Interior Minister had appreciated the outgoing secretary’s services in the ministry in a meeting few days ago.

The sources further said that the appointment of Shoaib Siddique was the reward of his loyalty with the federal government over the ongoing Karachi operation. They said that Siddique followed the instructions of federal government during the operation. However, the provincial government had shown the reservations on Siddique’s role in the Karachi operation and cornered him as Officer on Special Duty. The federal government has recently promoted Siddique to grade 22.

On the other side, almost 40 officers of different services groups who were promoted to grade 22 are still awaiting their notifications for the last one month.

According to the available documents, 12 posts are vacant in various federal ministries but the government is looking not serious to fill the same, therefore, it holds the promotion notifications of promoted officers.
