ABL AMC launches free smartphone app

KARACHI (PR): In a launching ceremony held at Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), Farid Ahmed Khan, CEO of ABL Asset Management (ABL AMC), unveiled the first of its kind mobile application for capital markets. The inauguration of ABL AMC smartphone app was done by Nadeem Naqvi, Managing Director Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX). Also present on this occasion were Ejaz Ali Shah, MD Pakistan Mercantile Exchange, Lukman, MD National Clearing Company & CEOs of leading brokerage houses.

In his welcome speech, Farid Khan said, “We felt that there was a need for a purpose built universal application for financial markets. This app is a convenient tool for retail investors to get live updates on news and financial markets as well as manage their savings with ABL AMC.” The app provides live news feeds, forex rates, commodity prices, and local & international money market rates. Nadeem Naqvi congratulated ABL AMC on this ground breaking achievement and stressed the need to leverage technology to reach retail investors.

Ufone bags two prestigious CSR awards

ISLAMABAD (PR): Ufone received two awards in the 5th Corporate Social Responsibility Award selection. Impressed by Ufone’s vision and implementation of CSR activities, the panel of judges unanimously voted to acknowledge Ufone’s contributions in the categories of “Innovation” and “Employee Engagement”.

This award is the first and only registered CSR Award of Pakistan. The decision of the panel has subsequently been ratified by the executive board of The Professionals Network (TPN) and Ethical Business Update (EBU).

The Innovation Award was given to the Ufone Emergency Alert System (EAS). In view of the overall security situation of the country, Ufone in collaboration with the Punjab Police, launched a single click EAS. The Police Department can extend the EAS to schools throughout Punjab for enhanced security. The system is free of cost and works on any cell phone using Ufone SIMs. Schools are able to register their Ufone numbers with the Police Department and any alarm generated through the number would alert the Police providing details such as the name of the school, the person who initiated the alarm and location.

Samsung at CES 2016

LAHORE (PR): Samsung Electronics has announced that it will be demonstrating three Creative Lab (C-Lab) projects for the first time, at CES 2016. C-Lab is one of Samsung’s innovation programmes, which helps its employees to nurture their own creative business ideas. The three projects are WELT- a healthcare belt that helps people manage their waist size by measuring their daily habits and behaviors, rink- a hand-motion controller for mobile VR devices, and Tip Talk- a remarkable new user experience (UX) that enables users to hear sounds, transmitted through their own body.

These C-Lab projects will be showcased at Eureka Park, the flagship destination for startups at CES, in Hall G, Level One of the Sands Expo, from January 6 to January 9, 2016. As the projects are still in the development process, they are being showcased to assess their market potential and to gather hands-on feedback from CES attendees, enabling further improvements to be made.
