Illegal rickshaw stand becomes public nuisance

KASUR-The illegal rickshaw stand established here at Nur Mahal Cinema Chowk has become a public nuisance and causing worst traffic mess in the area, making citizens suffer great ordeal on a daily basis.
During a survey, residents of different areas told The Nation that transporters have established an illegal rickshaw stand at Nur Mahal Cinema Chowk due to alleged negligence of the administration. They said the rickshaw stand is causing serious traffic problems, especially during school and official hours. "People have to suffer severe traffic mess caused by the illegal rickshaw stand," they said and added the commuters, especially students cannot reach their workplaces and schools timely.
Besides, many traffic accidents have also been reported in the area. They demanded the government look into the matter and get them rid of the difficulty.
DACOITS MAKE OFF WITH CASH, VALUABLES
Dacoits took away cash and other valuables in different robbery incidents while they also shot at and injured a citizen for resistance here the other day.
According to police, three dacoits intercepted a motorcyclist, Rafiq, and snatched cash, cell phone and motorbike from him. They also shot at and injured him for resistance and fled. Rafiq was rushed to Kasur District Headquarters Hospital. Teh Sheikham police are investigating. In Kot Radha Kishan, unidentified thieves stole Rs1.2 million and other items from the shop of Khalid at Sabzi Mandi.
Similarly in Talwandi, thieves broke into the shop of Shakil Ahmed and made off with Rs32,000 cash and Rs100,000 worth items. Police are investigating.
KITE-FLYING GOING ON UNNOTICED
Despite ban on kite-flying, it has been going on under the nose of the administration in Kasur City and its surroundings with 'impunity'.
The report of a survey conducted by this correspondent reveals that sale of the articles relating to kite-flying i.e. kite paper, string rolls is at its peak. One can witness the kites being flown in different areas of Kasur district including Road Kot, Kot Murad Khan, Shehbaz Khan Road, Morri Gate, National Bank Chowk, Bhasarpura, Kot Haleem Khan, Kot Usman Khan and Kot Ghulam Muhammad Khan. It poses threat to the lives of people. The administration is inactive to stop children from flying kites despite advertisement by the government in the national press that it is an illegal and punishable act. Social and political figures demanded Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif take notice of the situation.
TWO BOOKED FOR 'EXPROPRIATION'
Two employees of a motorbike company were booked for allegedly expropriating Rs60.9 million worth equipment of the company here the other day.
Company's administrator Azhar Hussain told Mustafabad police that the storekeepers of his company - Javed and Jamshaid - had allegedly expropriated Rs60.9 million worth equipment of the company. The police registered a case against the accused and launched investigation.
