CCTV cameras installed in police stations of Mardan, Peshawar

PESHAWAR   -  Following the directives of the KP Police Chief Sanaullah Abbasi, police in the provincial capital Peshawar as well as in Mardan district have installed close circuit television (CCTV) cameras in their police stations.

District Police Officer (DPO) Mardan Dr Zahidullah Khan said that they had installed CCTV cameras in police stations of Mardan district and also linked them to the internet for online monitoring of the stations. The DPO said that cameras would ensure that citizens were treated with respect and no-one was kept illegally in the lock-ups.

“These cameras have been fixed in the offices of SHOs and Moharrars, and lockups for their online monitoring,” he added.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for Peshawar Police also said that CCTV cameras had been installed in all 34 police stations of the provincial capital Peshawar.

He said the move was aimed to ensure online monitoring of the police stations, particularly how the cops deal with the visitors. He said it would also improve the performance of the cops.
