LAHORE - The CCPO Lahore has ordered an inquiry against SHO and other police officials of Sabzazaar Police Station for allegedly torturing and implicating an innocent citizen in a fake case. He issued these directions on the complaint of a victim Haji Muhammad Suba of Shah Faridabad Multan Road who appeared before the CCPO and informed him about high-handedness of the Sabzazaar SHO Shah Zeb, Sub-Inspector Bashir Ahmad, constables Muhammad Sadiq and Jaffar Hussain who arrested him and later involved him in a fake case. The complainant also highlighted the discouraging role of the SSP Operations Chaudhry Shafiq Ahmad and informed the CCPO Lahore that the SSP did not provide him justice when he appeared before him against the rough attitude of the Sabzazaar police. The SSP showed his lack of interest in redressing his grievances despite the tall claims of the Punjab Chief Minister and IGP about drastic change in the attitude of the senior police officers towards citizens, he told the CCPO. Giving further details, Haji Suba informed the CCPO that he appeared before the said SSP and brought to his knowledge about the SHO Sabzazaar's illegal raid at his residence where he manhandled him in the presence of his family and also scores of local people. SSP Chaudhry Shafiq, however, did not take it serious. Resultantly, he told the CCPO, the Sabzazaar police again arrested him from his house and took him to the police station where the SHO threatened him saying that police action against him is the result of his (victim) complaint which he had submitted before the SSP Operations against the police, Haji Suba said. He said that on December 16, 2008, the SHO registered a fake FIR against him under sections 468,471,419,500,501 of PPC, which was a highly condemnable act. The SHO did no hand him over to the investigation police and himself started investigation of the FIR registered against him, which was another illegal act. He was released when the SP Investigation, Saddr Division himself conducted inquiry and held him innocent in the course of investigation. The SP also held the policemen including the SHO guilty and directed to take legal action against them. The victim informed the CCPO that his complaint was still pending with the SSP Operations office and no action was taken so far against the police officials involved. The CCPO Lahore assured the victim that he would be provided justice and directed the SP Discipline for an inquiry. He asked him to submit a report as soon as possible. The SSP Operations however, was not available for comments when contacted on his cell phone time and again.
