LAHORE - The Pakistan Football Federation League's departmental phase will resume today after a break due to Ashura. The 1978 National Football Challenge Cup winner Sindh Government Press (SGP) will take on Pakistan Public Works Department (PPWD) in Group-A at Jam Eleven Stadium, Jam Murad Ali Khan Village in Karachi's Gadap Town. The Group-A will see the clash between 1986 National Champion Pakistan Air Force and Higher Education Commission at Peshawar's PAF Complex. Both the matches will commence at 2.30 PM. PPWD and SGP are current leaders in Group-A with three points and identical goal counts oo 2-1 while Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) and eliminated Pakistan Police secured only one point each. Two-times national champion Railways led Group-B with four points while PAF earned single point. Debutant ELBA Pure Water, who showed fine display against Railways at MTFA Ground on 3 January, yet to open their account while HEC yet to open their mission. Meanwhile, Pakistan Police's manager-cum-coach Rahim Bakhsh, Railway's coach Muhammad Rasheed, ELBA Pure Water's manager Mian Rizwan Ali, SSGC's chief coach Nawab Karim Uddin, SGP's manager Ghulam Haider, praised the football promotional work of PFF's President Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat has increased the prizes for three top teams of Pakistan Football Federation League - Departmental Phase plus individual prizes. The champion of eight-team show will get Rs.2 lacs instead of one lac whereas runner up team will walk away with Rs. 1 lac and the third-placed team will be rewarded 50,000 when the event will come to conclusion on 26 January. The previous prizes for the same position were 50,000 and 30,000 respectively. The most valuable player (MVP) will get Rs. 35,000 while leading marksman and best goal-keeper will pocket Rs. 25,000 and Rs.20,000 respectively. In order to promote Sportsmanship, PFF Chief had also decided to hand over cash prize of Rs.30,000 to winner of Fair Play trophy.
