It is very upsetting to find that most of the citizens are unaware of the legal structure applicable in Pakistan. This is one of the reasons that people are reluctant to approach the police and the legal fraternity for assistance.
The law of the land is mostly defined by the police officers standing on the roadsides. Indeed, the common man has to pay a heavy price for their ignorance and faces difficulties in courts and police stations.
It is imperative that besides reforming the police, people must be educated about their rights and workings of the legal system, so that they are not exploited by the concerned authorities.
