Islamabad - All private and public educational institutions of Islamabad Capital Territory would open and resume their educational activities from January 12 (Monday) after winter vacations.

The winter vacations, earlier announced by Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) from Dec 22-31 were, however, extended due to security concerns after Peshawar incident. The vacations in ICT institutions were extended till January 11 like other provinces and now the institutions would reopen from Monday with proper security measures.

Meanwhile, the federal government has decided to take funds form children’s parents for the security of their children in educational institutions.

In this context, administrative committees will meet parents after the institutes are opened. Guards will be hired from the money raised from parents.

According to sources, State Minister of CAD Barrister Usman Ibrahim chaired a meeting a few days back in which security of educational institutes was discussed. The meeting was attended by other high figures too.

It was decided in the meeting that institutions walls will be raised, barbed wires will be attached to the top of walls and other estimates of the expenditure will be taken by Public Works Department whereas CAD will arrange funds. Police mobiles will be patrolling in morning and in off timing of educational institutes. Moreover, guards are already deployed in the institutions which have the necessary funds.
